Atiu is an island that I have been interested in since 1985, but I didn't get there until 1999. I photographed over half of the island. I plan to return this year to continue with several projects in Atiu. Atiu people are very friendly. The five villages are grouped in the center of the island at the very top of a 14,500 foot mountain (from the sea floor). The island is about two miles across.
