Aloha, all...

I have been limited to moving around in my wheelchair which means that I am slower taking care of myself leaving less time to work on projects. Dr. Rick said the xrays showed that my leg is healing well and in two weeks he will remove a scew that is holding two bones in place while the tendons or ligaments grow back. I can start putting pressure on my foot. So, I haven't been taking snapshots, but I have been scanning some old photos for one of my projects.

Look at all that hair I had when I was five years old. This was on Rincon Beach near Ventura, California. Here's another photo...

Now I am retired and living 1-1/2 blocks from a beach in my paradise. At an early age, I learned that I like to travel...long story, but I liked meeting and spending time with other travelers while doing so. Living here in Kekaha Ha'aheo 15B, and being a member of CouchSurfing since April 2004, I have had the opportunity to host quite a few travelers from faraway places. It has always been a pleasing experience.

After I broke my ankle in August, I decided it would be too much of a distraction to host or even visit with couchsurfers visiting Kaua'i. When I tried to temporarily suspend hosting in my CS profile, it came out "traveling at the moment" which was alright except I had a pair of CouchSurfers arriving on September 15th.

They were au pairs (nannies) during the year in a suburb of Reading, Pennsylvania. I figured that au pairs would have no trouble using 15B's Couch Corner as their base of operations during their Kaua'i visit...and no trouble for me in my limiting situation...and be therapy for my eyes.

I sent them an email telling them about the "traveling at the moment" situation and that I was expecting them on the 15th. They arrived on schedule...

On the 16th, they went to the North Shore and Secret Beach with some guys that they had met. The next day they went with the guys on a Na Pali Coast cruise then came back to 15B to get some camping gear for Polihale. Ida showed us the photos of the Na Pali. They were great photos and Ida said that she would send me the photos so that I could put them in my Artmails. We haven't exchanged those emails, yet.

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed an icon among a bunch of others labelled "California." I clicked it open and it was all Ida's vacation photos until they left Secret Beach. I didn't know they were there. I decided that I would wait until I completed this page with some of those photos then send her an email with the link as well as my email address so she can send photos. (All previous emails were within the couchsurfing system and photos can't be sent).

Anyway, I skimmed only through some of the images and found the Kaua'i Secret Beach photos which are on this page. Before I put those I will give a little background. That these girls know how to travel and have fun is obvious from the photos. They flew, I think to San Francisco, rented a car...
