Aloha all...
A lot has been happening in the background here at 15B, but I have photographs of just a few happenings. In the previous Artmail, I was looking forward to meeting and sharing time with Bev, the girl who was my date to the Alameda High School Class of 1951 Senior Ball.

My plan was to take the bus to the airport, pick up a rental car to drive with Bev on the first time seeing each other for 55 years. Maybe we would have breakfast some place near or brunch later. After picking up the rental car, I went to Ahukini Landing to wait for her plane to arrive.
.....
.............
.....
I was expecting Bev to be arriving with her brother who had business on Kauai, so I was looking for two people with the arrivals. But, her brother went to Maui instead...and there was Bev...

We headed for Hanalei with some look-see spots on the way such as my former living places at the end of Anini Road and two in Princeville. We checked out the Hanalei Valley and Taro Ponds lookout for a photo or few:

After lunch, we went to the Hanalei Pier to check out the views from there on this cloudy day.

There was more traffic than I like to deal with on the whole safari. We drove out to the end of the road at Ke'e Beach taking a slight detour past another place where I once lived and worked in Ha'ena. (Now the drive was fenced off). We stopped and entered the large Dry Cave at Ha'ena County Park.

Bev shot this one in the Dry Cave.
.....
At the end of the road there was no quick parking and it was getting ready to rain, so we headed back, passing the Wet Cave, but getting into more rain.
When we got to the closed-since-Iniki Coco Palms, Bev wanted to get a photo because she and Bob stayed there in 1972. Then we went to the Opaeka'a Falls Overlook.

On the other side of the highway is the overlook for the Wailua River and Old Hawaiian Village.

I thought that if we passed viewing Wailua Falls in the rain, maybe we could go to Po'ipu and Spouting Horn on the South Shore. We didn't make it. We did get into a windshield wiper overpowering rainstorm that slowed traffic so much that I bailed and took Kipu Road back to Lihue and Ahukini Landing before going to the airport.

From the email I sent Bev later that night: "On the drive back to Kekaha, I went through another windshield-wiper-overpowering rainstorm, but the Westside was sunny and dry. It would have been better to have gone to Polihale with some beer and food, sit in the shade and watch the waves while talking story you can camp over night and enjoy the sunset and the warm night sky next time."

Bev sent this photo taken on Oahu.

May 27th of the Memorial Day Weekend at Polihale...TTashi and I took a ride out to Polihale. I needed some Polihale sand for my wedding present and I wanted to check out the graded cane road. The road to Polihale is the smoothest it's been for a long time. The cane road and the park roads had been graded all the way to the farthest-in pavilion. I was able to even drive the Tercel to it...

Then, we went back to the area where Bob and Sue's Polihale wedding is going to take place a week later...
