Malaysia 105: a, b, c

Aloha all...

I have several topics I would like to cover in this and the next Artmail...if I get time. But first, some photos from last week. Tashi had to go to Lihue, so I went along to get some things bought. Many times I see something that I would like to record in a snapshot a we drive along. The digital camera is not always ready to click when I push the button. In this snapshot, I was trying to have the contrail over the peak to look like a volcano...(just messing around). As you can see, I missed...but not by much:

...

...

One of the many nice thing about Kaua'i...no billboards!

...

...

On the way back, Tashi wanted to stop at a gallery in Hanapepe to give a message to Mizu. Ten years ago, I was living in Hanapepe so I snapped off some photos:

...

...

Hi Mizu.

...

These are just snapshots from the pickup, but check out her art on this gourd:

...

...

Great work!

...

Check out Mizu's website.

...

...

...

...

Now...

...

Then, it was Art & Soul Gallery...the door at the left, under the stairs, was to my boomerang storeroom. That was Pirate Ray's car for about three weeks in front. Lot of changes after a hurricane and fire.

...

In 1989.

...

No changes since Hurricane Iniki...9-11-92.

...

Yes, for three months that was "Boomerang Art's."

...

...

What's in that yard?

......

Sugar cane.

...

That's Kekaha Beach at the horizon.

...

Parking for surfing at Pakala's.

...

...

Waimea River.

...

...

Next day:

...

......

...

Ni'ihau, the Forbidden Island.

...

Everybody in the water.

...

Beach Naupaka

...

...

...

...

The next day:

...

...

...

Kanaloa PFP

...

Somehow, I lost all the 11 photos that I took on the 21st. On the 22nd...

...

...

Tashi.

...

Later that evening at Kekaha Ha'aheo...

...

......

Alicia...Christian, her so...California Here They Come?

...

...

...

......

Aloha.

...

Then, into 15B, my studio and workstation. I have a long-range project for my senior years...part of it has been completed (living on the west side of Kaua'i in Kekaha), but there is still the boomerang part in Australia. I've been working on that as time goes by as well as the Purple Feather People part in Polynesia.

...

...

...

Even when I'm all by myself, relaxing...there are still a lot of "old friends" hanging out. Each Purple Feather Person represents a student in my classroom-of-a-different-kind. Yes, I am a retired classroom teacher. I retired after twenty successful years of teaching in 1979. I formed a corporation, Life-Code Systems, Inc., that year as I began to explore the "corporate System" and teaching myself how to be ready, as a traveler, to utilize the then "little known" Internet in forming my own life's system. I am enjoying part of that as I type this.

I haven't painted on PFPs for over a week! I have housework and rearranging to do, too. (Right now, I have to stop and go to the library in Waimea to pick up a book that I've ordered).

In 1978, on this beach on Pangkor Island, in the Strait of Malacca (on the Malaysian side), I decided to end my career as a classroom biology teacher and become an international traveler working for myself (or my corporation). I would be spending my valuable time to make more valuable time to spend my way.

...

Now, there is a luxury hotel encompassing this beach...changes through time.

...

Noreen and Al...Canadians.

......

Pam, Al and Noreen in front of our "hotel"...not luxury, but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

...

Now, it's 25 years later. I am already living in my paradise...on the west side of Kaua'i in Kekaha. There are many other paradises that I would like to visit...some of them again.

[Hey, Doug...It's not easy selecting what I want to write here, but it eventually gets down to CouchSurfing and "My" circle Pacific route/ride. Rainbow Retreat is a destination as it Polihale.]
.....

From my trip from Singapore to Bangkok in 1978:

If the Internet had been available and if there was a CouchSurfing.com back in 1978, I would have suggested that Al, Pam, and Noreen join and we could all be in each other's Friend Network and have kept contact through time.

I have about three fourths of the slides that I took on my Asia trip scanned. The Canadians have never seen them. When I am traveling, it is usually "high-value" time that I am experiencing. I shared the portion of my trip with them from Singapore to Bangkok...five or six days, if the 24-hour train trip from Penang to Bangkok counts.

...

Not a very comfortable way to spend high-value time...24 hours!
