Aloha all...

I'll start out with the completion of Mich's Kaua'i couchsurfing. Mich was the first couchsurfer to surf my couch. He was a perfect couchsurfer. My situation here in 15B is well suited for a traveler...probably because I am basically a traveler living here as a very extended stay during my travels. Because I prefer to spend most of my time here, this is my legal residence and where I store my things. It is also my art studio and Internet station.

After the sun goes down, I am usually in the bedroom at my notebook or reading...or sleeping. I wake up well before dawn and start my online time. The couchsurfer sleeps in the parlor/studio on the couch's bed:

RJ, who now always shuts down the computer when finished, now, likes his haircut.

...

I was a "tour guide" with Mich one day. After that, now feeling familiar with the island, he was on his own with the rental car, except for that sunset at Polihale. He slept until well after the sun came up. There is not much chance of me disturbing his sleep any more than the roosters because I will be quietly working at my station with no noise-producing need to go into the other room.

During the day, the room is used when RJ is at the computer or when Kolo practices ukulele...he likes that spot:

Mich shared the photos of his safari with me. First from Bangkok:

And then from Tokyo:

Mich was up early on the 8th to fly to O'ahu. I enjoyed Mich's visit. I'm afraid that I may have spoken English too fast, sometimes, because of his apparent understanding. I hope that we may visit again...in Paris? I think couchsurfing.com is going to work out great.

Aloha, Mich.

When I take a break, many times I pick up whatever book I'm currently reading and read. On the mainland I found that when I took a break, I'd usually remote-on the TV, and of course I could find something to hook me for longer than I wanted to be hooked. I prefer my system here, with no TV. (I don't think Mich missed it...he never said so). These are the books I checked out from the library...yes, I'm into Polynesia...past, present, and future:

Good reads, all.

Tashi's 911 Art Show meant that I had to make a display for my Polihale Palm Frond Faces. I had a bunch of ideas that required a lot of work. I decided on something like this with a sign or two at the top:

...

The futon makes a low-to-the-floor couch.

...

That's the best centipede I ever painted on an Artrang (1994).

...

Tau and Tashi put a lot of time and work to get the yard ready for the 911 Art Show. Tau has a lot of his tropical plants making up the landscape. Here are some photos before it started:

I put my palm frond face display in a place that would have shade most of the time though shadier places were already taken:

Purple Feather People and more "Diamonds in the Rough."

The Kupunas make Polynesian crafts to raise money for scholarships. They also played ukuleles and sang for our pleasure.

Then the surprise...

Several months ago, Doug, the Wild Duck in Nimbin, Australia, mentioned in an email that one of the visitors at Rainbow Retreat was going to be moving to Kaua'i. He is to be the new Orthopedic Surgeon at the West Kauai Clinic. Doug gave him my name and URL and Rick promised to look me up. That's what he did at the art show.

...

Dr. Rick G.

We chatted a while then he said that he had his guitar in the car and wondered if it would be all right to sit in with the group. It was, he did, and it was great!

...

.

...

...

Dr. Rick could really jam...they sounded good together. The next day, Clifford called me and said that he and da kine were talking about how they liked Rick's music and asked me to ask him if he wanted to become part of the group. He also suggested a new name for the group...Doc and the Po' Boys (from Polihale). What do you think, Doc?

...

Ilde, Courtney, and Jeremy.

...

......

...

A good time was had by all...mahalo, Tashi.

...

.....

....

That's it for that week.

Aloha, Art
