Aloha, all...

.....

...........

The first day the mama brought her eight chicks over.

.....

It's about time I get this Artmail put together. I've been working on other projects. ChicagoDave Braun, who is the successful and well-liked new band teacher at Waimea Canyon Middle School, brought his wife, Kelly, to 15B so we could meet. They are certainly a nice couple and a welcome addition to our island.

At the front of 15B stand Chicago Dave and Kelly.

We talked story and ate some healthy fruit that Dave prepared for us. I made some popcorn. One of his students, who lives in Kekaha Ha'aheo, was surprised to see her teacher sitting at Boomerang Art's. She joined the group, but didn't want her photo taken.

I've known Walter G since I moved to the Westside in 1989. Here's a photo from Tumu Nu days after Hurricane Iniki in 1992...

...

Walter, Erica and I had been friends for several years already...campers at Polihale. Walter and I played many games of backgammon. I played some with Erica, too. Erica is now married and has a baby and living on the Eastside. Anyway, here are two photos of Walter and his girlfriend, Coquette, and his present Harley. They stopped by one day so I could meet Coquette and talk story.

As long as I had my camera out, I decided to get a shot of the colors of the sunset from my back yard. It wasn't much of a shot...I took only one...

.....

.....

...and as long as I was back there with my camera, I took two quick shots of the back of 15B...

.....

.........

I go to the back of 15B about once a week to water the lawn. I spend time in front of the notebook you can see through the window.

.....

The following Google Earth photos show where I am on Kaua'i...happily living my senior years.

.....

.....

It's not too far from the beach.

I have been realizing my dream of about 25 years having the reality of the Internet while living on a Polynesian island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Kekaha is my home...where I am living and working on various projects and doing a lot of reading, too. One of the projects that is especially interesting for me is making a copy of The Story of Villa Ferro (Il Pero), which was written by my mother's Italian cousin, Rina, around 1950 and translated by another cousin, Maria Augusta, on 50 single-spaced, typed, carbon copies. I am copying the story as web pages, not for publication, but to put on CDs for family members. When I come upon names and places or events, I Google them. If the information is significant to the story, I make links to that found information.

.....

Villa Ferro was built about 1400 on the site of a former Roman encampment.

.....

I first read the story in the 1950s, then read it again before visiting the villa with my children in 1970. In 1980, I started the copying project on my then "new" IBM Selectric typewriter (I'm not much of a typist), but only did three pages worth. I studied the story in detail while doing some research in the mid-1980s, but put off making a copy until now. That is some pretty good procrastinating...but now, I can do it as web pages with photos and links (to an Artmail).

.....

I use Google Earth a lot...here I can show the location of the Il Pero.

..

So, I've been spending a lot of time on that project which doesn't lend itself to photos for Artmail pages. One day, Greg M stopped by on his way to Polihale.

.....

....

I went along with him to take a few photos so I would have something for the next Artmail.

.....

She still has all eight chicks.
