This has been a shorter week. I got back out to Polihale before any rain started last Saturday. My schedule got delayed because my car wouldn't start after stopping at the post office. This particular problem got it's start the morning before.

My van overheated while running to recharge my battery.
...
When I work on my laptop early in the morning, if use up my batteries, I plug into the cigarette lighter and continue working. Because I do that often and don't drive around much, I thought I had better run the car a while and let the battery charge. Clifford arrived then doing his chores, so I went up to the pavilion to talk story and played the ukulele. I forgot about the van running until I saw the steam coming out. Antifreeze was boiling out and on to the ground.
The starting problem was caused by the increased corrosion near where the cable connects onto the terminal cutting off the electricity needed to start. After the corrosion was removed from that cable end, the van started right up. Anyway, it happened near Kolo's house so we went there and I took these photos:

My son, Michael, had made a video of old family 8mm movies with some nice music in the background. I receivied it in the mail that day. We watched it on Tashi's Michael's big screen.
It was very well done and brought up a lot of memories. There are more of those movies somewhere that I hope we can find. Tashi and Michael invited me for an ono steak dinner that night. The next morning we all went to Waimea to vote in the special election then had breakfast in Hanapepe. It was a full interesting day, and I made it back to Polihale as a few rain drops hit the windshield.
