I have a lot going on in 15B which keeps me plenty busy. This weekend the annual Waimea Town Celebration is happening. It's a big event every year. It gets very crowded in the evening with all the good entertainers. I was feeling kind of guilty for not taking many Kaua'i photos lately for these Artmails. It was very quiet around Kekaha Ha'aheo because most people were in Waimea.
I phoned Tashi to see if she wanted to take a quick photo run with me to the celebration. She did, The photos that follow were taken in different order, but in the same hour. I was in disguise with the hat and shades. I was "invisible"...maybe just one of the tourists. See if you can tell the difference between "tourists" and "local residents" in the photos. Not many people noticed me with my camera, it seems.
They start out with photos of the beach from the foot of Kala Road in Kekaha near where I live. "Ka'la'" is the Hawaiian word for money or dollar. There is no "d" in the Hawaiian 12-letter alphabet and "l" is used instead of "r."
