A Canadian Couchsurfer arrived on the 26th. I met her at the Lihue airport and then we headed for Kekaha via the Menehune Fishpond. (I don't have many photos because my camera is pretty much broken).

Melissa Larkin is a talented songwriter, singer and musician. You can check out her website HERE. After dropping her heavy backpack and guitar off in Kekaha, we drove out to Polihale so she could check it out and catch the sunset.

I don't remember seeing Polihale so green, though I expected it after over 40 days of heavy rain on Kaua'i. Here are some photos...

The next day, Melissa wanted to get a rental car. In the morning we went to the Kauai Coffee Museum & Gift Shop then went to the Hanapepe Swinging Bridge.

We then drove by way of Salt Pond Park and the Salt Ponds to Waimea and the Menehune Ditch. This stonework was here when Captain Cook arrived...there was no other stonework like it it Polynesia.

Melissa is now on the North Shore and planning to hike into Kalalau Valley.

Melissa phoned me the other day from Maui. She said that she stayed in the Kalalau Valley for an enjoyable week. She then flew to Maui for a couple of music gigs. She has yet to explore Maui and Big Island before returning to Canada. Best wishes, Melissa...Aloha.
